I suppose that before I get too far ahead of myself, I should have a "before" blog.
This way, come time to write an "after" blog, I'll be able to really note the changes that have occured.
In this 'before' blog, I want to mention why I am trying to eliminate my KP. And, if you have read the other two blogs, you will already know the jist of how.
So what is my main reason for eliminating my KP? Why the rush now, rather than before?
Well, two things. One being Prom, the other being summer. I want to be able to wear Tshirt and shorts; and I know all of you can relate to that... I want to be able to breathe in the summer, and not die of heat exhaustion under long sleeved shirts and long capris or pants. I want to be able to feel the sun on my skin, or lie down and tan... and not have to worry about who can see me.
But even more than that?
I just want to be healthy. I want to not feel so tired all the time. I want to be able to have that sharp focus back, to get rid of this horrible brain fog. I want to not have to depend on coffee or sugar to be alert and fully functioning. I want to have a steady and restorative sleep cycle. I want to regulate my hormones and end random mood swings of irritability, loneliness or anxiety. I want to be the best that I can be, have the most energy that I can have, go farther and for longer than before. I want the years of my youth, and the coming years of my prime, to be just that. I don't want to feel like I'm 40 at the age of 17. I don't want to feel like the age of 50 at 25. I want self esteem and confidence. It's there, but always held back. I don't want people to comment on my "bad sunburn" in the middle of February. I want to enjoy being a young woman, and not be ashamed of myself.
That is why I want to heal myself. I've been healing spiritually, emotionally, mentally, but I want to heal myself even further, by taking care of the physical aspect of my health.
My KP is extremely red, and extends down all of my arms and all of my legs - and most days, it makes me feel diseased. So diseased, that I can't stand to be touched by someone who loves me. So diseased, that I cancel plans with friends. That I stay home and cry.
I know something isn't right with my body, I know it's not achieving its full potential. So I want to give it the best care it can have. I want to repair the damage, achieve good health and maintain it... For a longer and happier life. That is what I want.

Supplement and Detox Schedule
I've also decided to follow through with a detox that I have purchased and have been putting off for a while. It is a parasite and candida cleanse called ParaGone! I know this may put my body into overdrive, but I'm sure I can handle it. Overdrive is supposedly a good sign with detox, but if it gets to the point where I feel I can't maintain it, then I will hold off until later for the detox.
Anyway, here is my regimen:
Before breakfast:
- ParaGone I tablets (x3)
- 1ml ParaGone II w/ Water
At breakfast:
- ParaZyme tablet
- FibreSmart w/ water
- 1 tsp Fish Oil
After breakfast:
- Ubermag Plus (magnesium) [L-tryptophan - 300 mg, Magnesium Taurate - 50 mg, Magnesium Glycinate - 50 mg, Magnesium Orotate - 25 mg, Magnesium Fumarate - 25 mg / one tablet per day]
- Uberzinc 2.0 (zinc) [Zinc Apartate - 25 mg, Zinc Orate - 50 mg/ one tablet per day]
- BetaCareAll (Carotenoid complex @ 25,000 IU, 100% Natural / one tablet per day)
- Vitamin K2 [Menatetrenone MK-4 - 120 mcg / one tablet per day]
- Vitamin D3 (Vitamin D3 @ 1000 IU / one tablet per day)
- Chromium (HVP Chelate - 500 mcg /one or two per day)
- GNC Women's Ultra Mega ACTIVE Multivitamin)
* I try to space out when I take them, so that the effects of one aren't cancelled out by another, and my stomach is not harmed, etc.
If anyone can suggest a better schedule for taking the supplements, preferably someone with professional qualifications; it would be much appreciated!
Afternoon/Home from school:
- Second round of detox (See above for details)
- 1 tsp Fish Oil
* I take fish oil twice a day because the tsps are small, and I find I benefit from two as opposed to one - my skin is horribly dry and scaly, and my circulation and moisture retention always improves with the two teaspoons. I suppose I could upgrade to one tablespoon, but I find spacing them out works better, and helps me sleep well.
Again, any and all suggestions are welcome!
I appreciate you having read this, and I encourage questions or comments. :)

The Game Plan
Hello everyone! To be honest, I'm really not in a writing mood tonight, so this introduction may be very, very short. I've suffered from moderate to severe Keratosis Pilaris since I was about 12, and I am now 17. Over the years it has become more red, and widespread; covering all of my arms and legs. I also suffer from rosacea! In fact, both sides of my family are of celtic descent and have suffered from rosacea and/or keratosis pilaris. My main complaint is the redness...
Based on the advice of professional nutritionists, I am going to follow a gluten-free diet and supplement with high quality vitamins and fish oil. I am going to follow this regimen for two months, and report on how I am feeling. Yesterday I also went for a blood test to check for hypothyroidism. This also runs in my family, and I have been experiencing almost all of the symptoms; my biggest discomfort being brain fog and fatigue. I should have the results back in about a week, so I will make sure to update with the news then. Should I be a 'borderline case', I plan to ask my doctor to allow me to go on treatment for the disease, and see if it has a positive effect on me. I have been reading Ridha Arem's "The Thyroid Solution" and have learned a lot...
So! Onto the supplements...
I will be taking Carlson Fish Oil, Vitamin K2 (apparently much better than Vitamin K1!), Vitaminb D3, Ubermag Plus (Magnesium), Uberzinc 2.0 (Zinc), BetaCareAll (Mixed Carotenoid Complex @ 25,000 IU)
I will try to update once a day, but I realize this is likely impossible. With school, work, homework and social life, I'll do my best to update as much as possible; and when I get the chance, I will explore in depth what changes I find particularily interesting...
Anyways, I think that's all I wanted to mention...
If anyone has any questions or comments, feel free to leave them here.
I'm hardly around on the Keratosis Pilaris Forums anymore, so you can find me here, or email me at Kayla_188@msn.com.
I hope that this treatment journal will shed some light on this condition, and maybe inspire others to explore different treatment options as well. It seems to me that our bodies are suffering from general malnutrition, and that is what I have been told time and time again.
So, wish me the best of luck!
